Liberal: Bush lied!!! Bush lied!!!
Conservative: What did he lie about?
Liberal: Well... he lied about lots of things. Anyone who ever read a newspaper knows he lied. I guess his main lie was about WMD's, even though most everyone believed there were WMD's, he was the only one in the government that knew they really weren't there so he must have been lying. ....... I may not know all the specifics but I know it's an accepted fact that he lied. And it really doesn't matter anyway, because he was an inarticulate redneck who stole the election and had no right to be there at all!!

Liberal: What did he lie about?
Conservative: He lied when he gave his word that, if nominated, he would utilize the public financing option for the general election. He lied when he gave his word there would be no lobbyists in his administration. He lied when he gave his word that he would end the Iraq war in the first 6 months of his administration. He lied when he told a Michigan labor union that if elected, he would renegotiate NAFTA - at the same time that one of his spokesmen was telling Canadian officials not to worry that was just campaign nonsense. He lied when he gave his word that he would sign no legislation unless the public was given at least 5 days to review the text. He lied when he gave his word that he would never sign legislation that contained earmarks. He lied when he promised to end the military tribunals. He lied when he promised to have the most transparent administration ever. He lied when he gave his word that no one making less than 250K would be taxed a dime. He lied about the estimated cost of the cap and trade bill. He lied when he gave his word that .........
Liberal (interrupting): Stop!! Stop!! I don't want to hear another word of your racial nonsense!! It's obvious that you are a bigot!!!!!! You are not even willing to give this beautiful, intelligent, kind and gentle man a chance!! ww 5/09

He also lied about the estimated cost of the proposed cap and trade bill. He had an official estimate of the cost being nearly $5.00 per day for the average family. He kept the official estimate secret and told the public that the estimated cost was less than $0.40 per day per family.
He lied again when he promised "not a dime of new taxes on anyone making less than $250K. Then immediately forgot his promise and pushed for his ciggarette tax, cap and trade tax, soda tax and health care tax. The total of which could affect a retiree making less than 20K a year by nearly 4K. Thats a potential 20% tax on our poorest!! A bit more than a dime!!. And that's just in the first few months of his administration.

Some Change?

Today our Senators, both Republicans and Democrats, sent next year's budget to Obama for signature. Dripping with pork and thousands of earmarks, it surely will be vetoed by him since he gave his word during the election that he would sign no legislation containing earmarks?
But it seems that politicians jostle up to the trough like they always have. No "Change " here!
But wait!! Something is different! The bill contains the elimination of an existing Federal spending program! It was a prototype test program to provide funds for the very poorest students in the DC school system so they could attend any school their parents chose. Modeled after the familiar "voucher" program except that the funds came from the Feds instead of the local school board.
Participating students averaged a 2.1 GPA increase, 90% reducti0n in missed days, 30% reduction in dropout rate, and were excelling in extra activities like band and student government.
What's going on here? Federal spending programs are never reduced, let alone completely eliminated? And this one was quite modest in cost and wildly successful?
The elimination was demanded by the DC teachers union!! Even though it cost the local board nothing and, in fact reduced the student load per teacher while increasing the funds per student in the public system. Apparently the union was terrified of the great results being produced .
No denying it. Some change here. Now the First Lady can have a bit of pride in her country and I can be a bit ashamed of mine.
